Friends of Ours Cooperative Announces the Release of Smart Device Beginners Guide – Volume 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Friends of Ours Cooperative Announces the Release of Smart Device Beginners Guide – Volume 1, a Transformative New Manual Designed to Empower Seniors in the Digital Age

Las Vegas, NV — December 08, 2025 — Friends of Ours Cooperative, a Nevada-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bridging the digital divide for seniors, proudly announces the release of its newest publication, Smart Device Beginners Guide – Volume 1. This comprehensive manual introduces older adults to the essential skills needed to confidently navigate modern smartphones, tablets, and everyday digital technology.

As one of the region’s leading organizations in senior digital literacy, Friends of Ours Cooperative developed this guide to give seniors—and the families who support them—a clear, simple, and accessible starting point for learning smart devices. The manual serves as both an instructional tool and a long-term reference companion designed with seniors’ needs, learning styles, and real-life challenges in mind.

A Practical, Easy-to-Follow Manual Built for Every Senior Learner

Smart Device Beginners Guide – Volume 1 offers step-by-step instruction on the fundamental skills required to use smart devices safely and effectively. Written in plain language and supported by senior-friendly illustrations, the manual includes:

  • Understanding basic phone and tablet features
  • Navigating home screens and menus
  • Sending texts and making calls
  • Adjusting accessibility settings
  • Using internet browsers
  • Managing photos, contacts, and apps
  • Recognizing common icons and notifications
  • Staying safe online and avoiding digital scams

The guide is intentionally paced, clearly organized, and formatted to reduce confusion and build confidence. Whether someone is using a smart device for the first time or looking to refresh their knowledge, this manual provides the foundation they need to stay connected in today's digital world.

The Value of Attending a Friends of Ours Smart Device Class

While the manual stands on its own as a powerful learning resource, attending a Friends of Ours class elevates the learning experience even further. Students receive:

  • Hands-on instruction from experienced, patient educators
  • Live demonstrations and guided practice
  • One-on-one support tailored to their device
  • Access to a supportive community of fellow learners
  • The chance to ask questions in real time
  • Guidance on fraud prevention, scam awareness, and digital safety
  • Optional follow-along assistance using the manual during class

Participants also benefit from the Cooperative’s signature approach to teaching—friendly, judgment-free, and built entirely around the comfort and pace of the learner. Every student leaves with both new skills and renewed confidence.

Why This Manual Matters

Technology touches nearly every part of modern life. For seniors, understanding smart devices can mean greater independence, stronger connections with loved ones, access to essential services, and enhanced personal safety online. This manual helps ensure seniors are not left behind in a digital world.

“Our mission is simple: make technology accessible for everyone,” said Dedrick Dart, Public Relations Director. “This guide is more than just a resource—it’s a lifeline that helps seniors feel empowered, informed, and protected. Combined with our in-person classes, it opens the door to a more connected and confident way of living.”
