Our Mission In Action

Every donation, sponsorship, volunteer hour, and community partnership helps Friends Of Ours Cooperative continue building a safer, smarter, and more connected future for seniors throughout Nevada.

Thank You For Your Contribution.

Below are some of the most important initiatives made possible through community support and how these efforts have directly helped local Nevadans.

Creating Senior Smart Device Beginner Manuals

One of our largest educational initiatives has been the creation of beginner-friendly smart device manuals specifically designed for seniors.

These manuals were created to:

  • Simplify confusing technology concepts
  • Provide step-by-step guidance
  • Improve accessibility and readability
  • Help seniors continue learning outside the classroom

By giving seniors educational materials they can take home, local Nevadans gain long-term learning tools that help build confidence, independence, and online safety awareness long after class has ended.

Maintaining Consistent Community Classes

Through donations and community support, Friends Of Ours has continued offering consistent educational classes throughout Las Vegas and surrounding Nevada communities.

Consistency has helped:

  • Reduce fear surrounding technology
  • Encourage repeat attendance
  • Create a comfortable learning environment
  • Strengthen community relationships among seniors

Many students return regularly to continue learning and improving their digital skills in a judgment-free environment.

The 1,000 Manual Community Goal

Started January 1, 2025 as an independent initiative of our ongoing  goal to place 1,000 educational manuals into the hands of seniors throughout Nevada.

At this time:

100+ Manuals

have already been:

  • Paid for
  • Donated
  • Distributed

through:

  • Community classes
  • Raffles
  • Giveaways
  • Outreach events
  • Educational programs

Each manual distributed represents another senior gaining access to technology education, scam prevention information, and digital independence resources.

Student Support & Community Giveaway Initiatives

Community support has also helped Friends Of Ours provide:

  • Educational Giveaways
  • Tote Bags
  • T-shirts
  • Mugs
  • Classroom Materials
  • Student Appreciation Items

These efforts help create a more welcoming and engaging classroom experience while encouraging participation, confidence, and community connection among local seniors.

“Sip • Wear • Carry” Donation Campaign

Friends Of Ours Cooperative created the “Sip • Wear • Carry” campaign as a creative community fundraising initiative designed to help generate additional support for senior education programs.

This initiative uses:

  • Mugs (“Sip”)
  • T-shirts (“Wear”)
  • Tote bags (“Carry”)

to:

  • Increase public awareness
  • Encourage community involvement
  • Generate additional donations
  • Expand visibility for the organization’s mission

This campaign helps local Nevadans support senior education in a simple and community-centered way while helping sustain free educational programs.

Featured on FOX5 Las Vegas

Friends Of Ours Cooperative was featured on FOX5 Las Vegas, helping bring attention to the growing need for senior technology education and scam prevention throughout Southern Nevada.

This media exposure helped:

  • Increase awareness about digital literacy for seniors
  • Educate the public on technology challenges older adults face
  • Expand community support
  • Connect more seniors to free educational resources

The feature also helped validate the importance of creating safe and supportive learning environments for older adults in Nevada.

Connecting Seniors & Tech

Building Nevada Community Partnerships

Friends Of Ours Cooperative has continued working to strengthen relationships throughout Nevada by partnering with local organizations, libraries, businesses, and community initiatives focused on improving quality of life for seniors.

These partnerships help:

  • Expand educational outreach
  • Create additional learning opportunities
  • Improve accessibility to free resources
  • Connect seniors with supportive community networks

By building stronger local relationships, Friends Of Ours helps create a more connected Nevada community for older adults.

Creating Official Friends Of Ours Ambassadors

Friends Of Ours Cooperative established its own educational ambassadors to help make technology learning more welcoming, relatable, and approachable for seniors.

These ambassadors help:

  • Simplify difficult concepts
  • Reduce intimidation surrounding technology
  • Create engaging educational materials
  • Improve student comfort and participation

By using friendly and recognizable educational characters, seniors often feel more relaxed, included, and encouraged throughout the learning process.
